A scathing report by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has exposed Iran’s insidious campaign to disseminate incitement throughout Latin America.
Since its establishment in 2011, HispanTV has been actively promoting an antisemitic conspiracy theory called the “Andinia Plan,” which claims that Jews want to establish a second Jewish state in the areas comprising Argentina and Chile. This hoax is portrayed as a “secret plan,” and like many antisemitic conspiracy theories, it’s anchored by libels of Jewish people hoarding power, money, and influence.
The Iranian-backed media outlet has openly broadcasted antisemitic tropes and false narratives to its 600 million viewers. It has shamelessly denied the Holocaust and claims that Jews control the entertainment industry.
One recent HispanTV report titled “Hollywood Led by Jews, Politicized by Imperialism” argues that under Jewish influence on Hollywood distorts historical events and promotes ideologies favorable to US-Israel policies.
In the wake of Hamas’s brutal attack on southern Israel, which claimed the lives of 1,200 civilians and saw 250 more taken hostage, HispanTV published blatant disinformation and denialism. It blamed Israel for the violence while absolving Hamas of any responsibility for their atrocities.
The report also listed multiple other media channels Iran uses to spread incitement, such as the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which has been sanctioned twice for human rights violations. It also exposes Iran’s use of cultural centers across Latin America to incite hostility against the region’s Jewish communities, estimated at around 200,000 and primarily concentrated in Argentina and Uruguay.
